4exchange offers various possibilities for volunteer work in South Africa. As opposed to several other volunteer organizations, we charge a once-off fee for service costs. This amount ensures you can stay at the project for as long as you would like (unless stated otherwise), and guarantees that 4exchange remains your first entry of contact during your total stay in South Africa. Service costs among volunteer projects differ, due to the fact that some projects offer food and/or accommodation, and others don't. Generally basic service costs for all projects are around 395 euro.

4exchange volunteer work: step by step
You have chosen for 4exchange to find you a volunteer project in South Africa, what happens next?
- It starts with your registration. You will read the terms and conditions, fill in the application form and send it to us.
- As soon as we have received your application form, we send you a confirmation and we will start to find a volunteer project that suits you. We also agree together whether you would like us to mediate for other things as well (accommodation, car rental, etc.)
- When we found a volunteer project which we think suits your wishes and goals best, we contact you. We consult you about the project and we agree about the steps that have to be taken by us and by you.
- We consult with the company or organization again and put you in direct contact with them. We will help you draw up a volunteers agreement, which states your time as a volunteer, your tasks and other important things regarding your volunteer work placement. It is your responsibility to make sure both you and the volunteer project sign this agreement, however, we will assist you herein.
- If the volunteers contract has been signed, mediation costs will be charged. If something goes wrong before signing the contract or if the volunteer work placement does not comply with the volunteer's requirements (before signing the contract), we help you find another volunteer work placement once.
- When mediation costs are paid, we make an actual appointment about your arrival date in Cape Town. Now we will start to find you a nice place to live and we arrange your transport (rental car) if desired.
- In the mean time, if you have any queries, please don't hesitate to contact us. We will keep you informed about possible accommodation.
- Once you arrive in Cape Town, we personally come to pick you up from the airport and take you to the place where you will live, either it be the volunteer project or at your own accommodation. The first week we help you find your way in Cape Town and the neighbourhood where you live.
- During your whole stay in Cape Town we will keep you informed about all the activities 4exchange organizes, like social evenings, adventurous outings and various weekend breaks together with other interns and volunteers in South Africa.
- We remain your contact and are available for support throughout your time as a volunteer in South Africa.
